Tiffin University's first Good Morning World Breakfast lecture of the school year is to feature Thomas Barnett, chief analyst with WikiStrat Inc.
Barnett is to present "State of the World" at 8 a.m. Sept. 19 at Camden Falls Reception and Conference Center, 2460 S. SR 231. Breakfast is to be served at 7:30 a.m.
Barnett is a strategist who has worked in national security affairs since the end of the Cold War.
"Looking back at his background, Barnett is someone who is different than what we have had in the past," said Ron Schumacher, TU's vice president for Development and Public Affairs. "The information he is to present will be interesting for those who are enrolled in the area of criminal justice."
He is the author of the New York Times-bestseller "The Pentagon's New Map: War and Peace in the 21st Century," as well as "Blueprint for Action: A Future Worth Creating" and "Great Powers: America and the World After Bush."
He earned a doctorate in political science from Harvard University. In addition to his role at WikiStrat, he runs a consulting company, Barnett Consulting LLC, and is contributing editor and writes a weekly column for World Politics Review.
"It is like with any speaker. I hope that people just leave the event feeling a little smarter and feel good about the thinkers we do have in Washington," Schumacher said.
Admission is $12. Make reservations by calling Lori Bentz at (419) 448-3282.
