Nature Walk Bird Talk is set for 8 a.m. Saturday at Garlo Heritage Nature Preserve, SR 19 south of Bloomville.
Bring binoculars to walk the trails and discover what is happening in the preserve - tracks, scat, migrating birds, falling leaves and more.
The walk lasts about 1 1/2 hours and qualifies for the walking stick program. All ages are welcome.
Preschoolers ages 3-5 with an adult companion can go on a pumpkin hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday at Garlo preserve.
Children can visit the park and learn about pumpkins through stories and fingerplays before joining Linda Rose on a pumpkin hunt.
Toddlers ages 12-36 months with an adult companion can go on a brief leaf hunt and make a leafy craft during a Lots of Leaves program at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Zimmerman Nature Preserve, next to Autumnwood Care Center, SR 18.
Parents of children up to age 1 are invited to a Backpackin' Babies program about pumpkins at 10 a.m. Thursday at Garlo preserve.
Babies can be exposed to mini-pumpkins and simple fingerplays. Parents can take a short walk around the pumpkin patch. Strollers, backpacks and frontpacks are welcome.
Join experienced bird bander Tom Kashmer at 8 a.m. Oct 12, 19 and 26 to learn about bird research and watch the process up close.
Meet in the parking lot of Creek Bend Farm, 654 S. Main St., SR 590, Lindsey. Since 1982, Kashmer has banded more than 100,000 birds. See what he adds to his list in 2013.
Stargazing Saturday at Sunset is set for Oct 12 at Wolf Creek Park Campground, 2701 SR 53, south of Fremont.
