Beatrice A. Gernert, 85, of Bloomville, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at Seneca House, Tiffin,
Beatrice, or Beatty, as she was known by family and friends, was born May 27, 1928, in Auburn Township, Crawford County, to George J. and Charlotte M. (Alt) Burger. She married Thomas B. Gernert March 17, 1947, and he preceded her in death May 26, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Linda) Gernert and Gregory (Sandy) Gernert of Bloomville; two daughters, Sandra (Ron) Rau of Old Fort and Cynthia (Michael) Oberlander of Republic; 10 grandchildren, Kim, Tomi, Erin, Tracie, Greg, Bill, Eppie, Heather, Amy and Jason; 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, Francis Burger of Alaska and Charles Burger of Bucyrus; and four sisters Virginia Martin, Sara Wolfe, Helen Schoen of Attica, and Janice Biddle of Florida.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Burger.
Beatrice was a homemaker most of her life and also worked many years as a cook at Truck Haven Restaurant, Bloomville. She was a member of Bloomville Legion Auxiliary Post No. 434. She will be remembered by many for homemade doilies and cookies that she readily gave to all.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville, with the Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating.
A celebration of life will follow at the American Legion Hall, Bloomville.
Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca House Activity Fund, Community Hospice of Tiffin or a charity of the donor's choice.
