Seneca County Commissioner Jeff Wagner swore in new agricultural society board member Joline Humbert Tuesday night.
Kay Fausey from the Fort Seneca United Church of Christ addressed the board about creating a booth site as a concession during the fair for the church as a fundraiser. They discussed the possible collaboration with the Seneca County sandwich barn to gain experience in the process.
Board member Zelda Oakleaf suggested Bill Enders, groundskeeper at the fairgrounds, as candidate for outstanding fair supporter. She also reported the board profited by $900 preparing three meals for 58 people while the Winnebago campers stayed at the fairgrounds.
OSU extension agent Ann Golden has been conducting financial literacy and driving safety programs in the county schools.
Board member Ron Hoover reported $1,800 still is owed from 11 buyers during the livestock sales during fair week.
Wagner said EMS Director Ken Majors suggested the fair board number buildings for easier identification for emergencies.
In other matters, the board:
Approved the financial report that found $78,495.75 in all accounts.
Determined to apply $10,000 to its bank loan, dropping the balance to $35,000.
Distributed committee assignments.
Set the 2014 fair dates for July 20-27.
Agreed to apply for 2014 state funding.
Approved closing a racehorse barn due to increased costs of maintenance and utilities.
Decided to leave admission rates at $6 per day and $20 for membership and week's admission.
Appointed President Calvin Staib and Vice President Bruce Henney as delegate and alternate to the OFMA convention Jan. 9-12.
Approved paying for delegates and officers expenses for all nights and one night for others attending.
Approved laying 400 feet of 6-inch tile from the race track to a catch basin for better drainage at a cost of $436.
Allocated $500 for maintenance on barn 6.
Heard the new roof has been completed on the restrooms near the grandstands
Discussed the process for electing or appointing new board members. Will examine the by-laws.
Learned the fall district meeting is Nov. 16 at the Fulton County fairgrounds.
Approved the junior fair foundation purchasing new overhead doors for the education building, costing $6,625.
The agricultural society is to meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12.
