Martha U. Shough, 98, of Upper Sandusky and formerly Sycamore and Upper Arlington, died at 4:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Inn at Westbrook, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 18, 1914, in Seneca County, to Harry and Mary (Smith) Hufford. She married Leonard Shough Nov. 21, 1944, and he died Aug. 12, 1989. They never had any children.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers, Harrison Hufford, Mac Hufford, Herbert Hufford, Joseph Hufford, Kenneth Hufford, Hale Hufford and Mason Hufford; and three sisters, Florence Huber, Helen Hufford and Christean Moyer.
Martha was a retired administrative secretary for Borden Co., Columbus, after 30 years of service. She was a member of Upper Arlington Northwest Christian Church. She was a 1933 graduate of Sycamore High School, attended Tiffin Business University and Bliss College of Columbus. She was a life member of Community Chapter No. 488 OES, Upper Arlington, was affliated with the Republican party and served as a poll worker for 25 years. For a hobby, she loved planting and taking care of all her flowers in her flower beds around her home.
Graveside services for Martha will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, SR 103, Sycamore, with the Rev. Robin LaBolt officiating. There will be no calling hours.
