Michael Arlington Buchman, 80, former owner and president of Countyline Machine & Tool, Fostoria, died at Valley View Nursing Home in Fremont Oct. 12, 2013.
He was born Jan. 30, 1933, in Tiffin, Seneca County, to Ralph Buchman and Evelyn Stone (Weller-Buchman-Zahn-Stone). He attended Columbian High School, where he graduated in 1951. In 1952, he married Norma Jane Fruth in Tiffin. In 1963, he married Joyce Pace and later in 1985 he married Carolyn Cantrell (Eckhardt), still surviving in Fremont.
Michael was a journeyman machinist working for The National, Tiffin, and later owning and operating Countyline Machine & Tool in Fostoria. In 1982, he retired from the business and split his time between Fremont and Florida to fish the open waters of the ocean and Lake Okeechobee.
Michael was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Fostoria Sportsman Club, serving as club president in 1975-1980. He was also an active member of the Fostoria Eagles, Elks and the Tiffin Moose. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying the likes of game hunting for moose, elk and brown bears. He was a pilot for 25 years and enjoyed restoring and collecting old cars and planes.
Michael is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his daughter Jane Valentine of California, his daughter and her husband, Peggy and Daniel Ewald of Tiffin, his daughter and her husband, Joan and Neal Childers of Dayton, his daughter and her husband, Jean and Michael Gerald of Enon; Carolyn's son and his wife, Chuck and Candy Cantrell of Fremont, Carolyn's daughter and her husband, Carla and Dennis Gullett of Fremont, Carolyn's daughter Christine Gottron of Fremont; 18 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He is further survived by great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael R. and John A. Buchman.
There are no calling hours. Graveside services for the immediate family will be held at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin, where Michael will be laid to rest with his two sons.

A special thank-you goes out to all who visited Michael while he was confined to the nursing home the past eight years. Your visits meant so much to Michael.
