Seneca County Park District is asking everyone to take part in an online park planning survey now under way.
"We are requesting folks to complete our survey whether they have visited our parks and nature preserves or not," said Jim Nordholt, a board member serving on the strategic planning committee. "The information we gather will assist us in knowing how we can provide better nature preserves and parks for our communities."
The survey is part of a strategic planning process to help the park board review the park system's strengths and weaknesses and develop future plans.
"An important part of planning for the future of our park district is to determine what the users of our nature preserves and parks perceive as being important for their enjoyment of the properties," Nordholt said.
A six-member task force was created in May after new board member Bill McAllister offered his experience in strategic planning. As former director of Fostoria's Geary Family YMCA, he had undertaken strategic plans in the past.
Task force members are McAllister and Nordholt from the board; John Crumrine and Karin Brown, representing Friends of the Seneca County Park District; and community members Lori Hall of Tiffin University and Cathy Nagle-Ervin of Eastern National, a retailer that works with the National Park Service.
