Seneca County Democratic Executive Committee Chairman Mary Puffenberger announced there is to be Medicaid Expansion Petition Training 9-10 a.m. Saturday.
During a meeting Thursday, Puffenburger said the training is to show volunteers how to complete petitions to get the expansion on the ballot, since it expires in January. The Ohio Democratic Party wants 530 signatures per county by the end of December.
The event is to be at UAW Local 913 Hall, 3114 Haynes Ave. in Sandusky. Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Democratic Women are to host a Christmas party at 6 p.m. Dec. 4 at Gillmor Center at Tiffin University. The event is $5. For more information or to RSVP, contact Janet Booth at (419) 447-8266.
Lynda Mobley reported that Tuesday's "What Seniors Should Know" seminar was a success and was beneficial and informative for local seniors. She suggested having the event again next year.
The committee also thanked those involved in the planning and organization of the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner. More than $1,500 was raised during the event.
Cheryl Radin-Norman suggested getting more involvement from Tiffin University and Heidelberg University, specifically from the political science departments.
The committee also discussed support of Democrats running for Seneca County commissioner next year.
Puffenberger said it was important to get more Democratic candidates on the ballot for next year's general election.
The committee is to meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 12.
