Francis J. Brickner

Francis J. Brickner, 86, of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 16, 1927, in Tiffin, to Frank and Dora (Hammer) Brickner. He married Kathryn Harper May 21, 1949, and she passed away July 14, 1974. He then married Helen Thiel Sept. 5, 1983, and she survives in Fostoria.

Survivors also include his eight children, James (Jeannie) Brickner of Tiffin, Stephen Brickner of Fostoria, Karen (Mike) Coppus of Tiffin, Sandy (Dave) Coppus of Bascom, Patrick (Yvette) Brickner of Findlay and Jean (Joe) Smith, Dorothy (Jim) Frankart-Nagle and Lisa (Dan) Kuhn, all of Tiffin; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; six sisters, Celeste Brickner, Sr. Mary Norene Brickner, OSU, Regina Hohman, Luella Kelbley, Marcella Brickner and Mary Agnes Clouse; a son-in-law, Mike Frankart in 2001; a grandson, Ian Kuhn in 2009; and a great-grandson, Bryce David Coppus in 2011.

Francis graduated in 1944 from Hopewell-Loudon High School and was a member of Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom. He worked for GEM Mfg., Bascom, Bascom Telephone Company as a lineman and retired in 1989 from Bascom Elevator. Francis was a lifetime farmer and enjoyed gardening.

His Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at Sts. Patrick and Andrew Catholic Church, Bascom. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Bascom. A rosary will be prayed 15 minutes prior to Mass.

Friends may visit and share stories from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bascom Joint Fire District, Bascom EMS or Bascom Right To Life.
