FREMONT - The memories of last year's one-win season are slowly fading away, as Old Fort improved to 4-0, 2-0 Midland Athletic League after going on the road Thursday and beating Fremont St. Joe, 39-32.
A balanced scoring effort paced the Stockaders as Sara Bell and Mackenzie Ward shared the team high with eight points. Sammy Miller and Alli Adelsperger each chipped in six. Sam Hartsel pulled down 11 rebounds as Old Fort enjoyed a 35-17 advantage on the glass.
Ashley Burns led St. Joe with 12.
Comets power off
FOSTORIA - Genoa gained breathing room in the second quarter and pulled away from there Thursday to beat Northern Buckeye Conference foe Fostoria, 55-35.
The Comets (3-2, 1-1 NBC) snapped a 10-10 tie with a 14-4 scoring surge in the second period and outscored FHS 31-21 in the second half.
Haley Pickard's 18 points led Genoa, with Ciarra Albright adding 16 points and four assists, Emily Edwards scored 11 points, Brynn Skilliter grabbing 12 rebounds and Katie Jensen talying eight steals.
The Redmen (1-3, 0-2) got 11 points from Jada Hampton and 10 from Kierra Settles. Erica Moore chipped in six boards and three assists and Alexus Smith snared five steals.
Warriors dismantle Lakota
SYCAMORE - Led by Kasey Adelsperger's 16 points, Mohawk tore through Lakota, 52-19.
Ally Weinandy racked up 12 points while Julie Adelsperger added eight points. Clara Adelsperger led the team in rebounds with 13. Kasey Adelsperger recorded five rebounds and was 6 of 6 from the free throw line.
