Esther S. Riley, 96, of Bloomville, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 28, 2013, at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born Jan. 14, 1917, in Bloomville, to Howard and Blanche (Rhoad) Shook. She married Frank D. Riley Dec. 18, 1937, in Bloomville, and he preceded her in death in 1959.
She is survived by two sons, James (M. Jean) Riley of Naperville, Ill., and John (Mary) Riley of Orlando, Fla.; four grandsons, David (Kathy) Riley of Mohave Valley, Ariz., Frank (Suzanne) Riley of Cincinnati, James (Michelle) Riley II of Hinsdale, Ill., and Joel (Michelle) Riley of Chicago, Ill.; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sue E. Riley in 2000; and two brothers, Russell and Arthur Shook.
Esther was a member of Bloomville United Church of Christ, Bloom Community Grange and a 1937 graduate of Bloomville High School. She worked at the Tiffin Dairy, Bloomville Hotel and Hoperoy's Hallmark Shoppe.
Her funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville, with the Rev. Cathy Wirth officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bloomville.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
