Tiffin University and the University of Findlay are to again join forces to make one 7-year-old boy's wish come true.
The men's and women's basketball teams for both schools are to support Cooper during two superhero themed games Saturday.
Cooper, of Findlay, was chosen through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Cooper's biggest wish is to go to Disney World to meet Donald Duck, Buzz Lightyear and the Star Wars characters.
Cooper has been diagnosed with meningitis and pilocytic astrocytoma, a condition with tumors of the central nervous system.
Tiffin University's Student Athletic Advisory Committee members are to sell "Cooperman" T-shirts beginning today. Shirts cost $10 and are to be sold through Feb. 8, when the TU Dragons take on the UF Oilers in Findlay. Proceeds from the shirts and the game are to go to helping Cooper get to Disney World, said Jennifer Spangler TU's athletic department office manager and SAAC advisor.
Cooper is inspired by superheroes and fighters. During the TU men's and women's basketball games Saturday at Gillmor Student Center, attendees are encouraged to wear a superhero costume, mask, cape or any superhero apparel, Spangler said.
The main event is during halftime of each game. At that time, Cooper and some of his friends are to join the teams on the court and compete in an obstacle course, Spangler said.
"The biggest thing we have been saying is that although both schools are considered rivals, this is something that brings us together to help Cooper," Spangler said. "Cooper's wish is bigger than the rivalry."
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tiffin University Students are admitted free with an ID.
