A Fremont teenager was injured in a rollover accident Saturday afternoon.
Trooper Ivan Nunez of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Alexa Dorsey, 17, of Fremont, was traveling southbound on North CR 31 when the vehicle she was driving, a 2000 GMC Sierra, slid off the east side of the road, hit the ditch and overturned several times. The vehicle came to rest on its top, he said.
The accident likely was weather related and it was unclear if Dorsey was speeding, Nunez said.
Dorsey was transported by ambulance to Mercy Tiffin Hospital, and Life Flight was put on standby for possible transport to another hospital, he said.
Four passengers in the vehicle, Nunez said, also were injured, and one was transported from the scene by Life Flight to a Toledo hospital. Nunez said he didn't believe the injuries of that passenger were life-threatening.
The other three passengers in the vehicle were transported to local hospitals, including Mercy Tiffin Hospital and Fremont Memorial Hospital, by EMS, he said.
The names and conditions of the passengers involved in the accident were not available Saturday evening, Nunez said.
No citations had been issued as of Saturday evening, he said, and it remained unclear if Dorsey and the passengers in the vehicle were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
According to a spokesperson for Seneca County Sheriff's Office, Bettsville fire, the Echo unit, two Bascom ambulances and Green Springs EMS, in addition to State Highway Patrol, responded to the scene.
