Gerald D. McLaughlin, 87, of Tiffin, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Bowling Green.
Born Dec. 20, 1926, in Carey, he is the son of the now-deceased Daniel and Bernice (Ludwig) McLaughlin.
He married Irma S. Koby April 26, 1952, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. She survives in Tiffin.
Surviving are four children, Linda (Mike) Troiano of Tiffin, Mark (Becky) McLaughlin of Warren, Robert (Faith) McLaughlin of Tiffin and Timothy (Lori) McLaughlin of Howell, Mich.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Louise Parish and Lillian Autieri of Findlay, Geraldine (Richard) Flick of Benton Ridge and David (Carol) McLaughlin of Upper Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael McLaughlin, and two brothers, Richard and Fred McLaughlin.
Gerald retired in 1985 from GE in Tiffin after working 35 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. Memberships included AMVETS No. 48, Eagles Aerie No. 402 and Moose Lodge No. 846, all of Tiffin. Gerald enjoyed dancing, playing euchre, bowling, gardening and games of chance.
Friends and family will be received 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home, Carey. A wake service will be at 4 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Joe Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin, at a later date.
