Keith A. Whitman, 61, of Old Fort, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2014, at Wyandot County Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born Jan. 14, 1953, in Fremont, to Wilbur and Alice (Polyak) Whitman. He married Pamela L. Heilman May 10, 1974, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Ben (Jennie) Whitman of Old Fort; two daughters, Teresa Ernsberger of Gibsonburg and Elaine (Kyle) Daugherty of Tiffin; two brothers, Kent (Gail) Whitman of Genoa and Tom (Gwen) Whitman of Fort Seneca; a sister, Susie (Fred) Hoffman of Oak Harbor; four grandchildren, Konnor, Ayden, Emma and Brantly; his mother-in-law, Patricia (Donnie) Heilman of Old Fort; and his father-in-law, Richard Heilman of Bettsville.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Whitman, in 1992.
Keith was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont, and a 1971 graduate of Old Fort High School. He worked for Guardian, Millbury for more than 20 years and at the time of his death, drove truck for J.B. Hunt.
Keith enjoyed working on the family farm, showing cattle and was very active with his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a quiet, simple man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a hero to his family.
A private family Mass will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Fremont.
