James R. Myers, 83, of Clyde, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs.
He was born May 22, 1930, in Berryville, W.Va., to John Hunter and Viola (Fiddler) Myers. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He married Thelma E. Reed May 9, 1952, and she preceded him in death April 7, 2011.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Lee (Joni) Myers Sr. of Green Springs and Terry (Pam) Myers of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Myers of Bettsville; four sisters, May (John) Syeth of Maryland and Tillie (John) Mercer, Rachel (Garfield) Gray and Margaret Beavers, all of West Virgina.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, William Frederick Myers in 1974 and Paul Eugene Myers in 2006.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde.
His funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Goossen officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde.
