Ruth H. Kessler, 91, of Carey, died at 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, in Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 21, 1922, in Carey to Weldon and Clara (Brown) Hoff and they preceded her in death. She married Robert J. Kessler June 16, 1945, in Carey. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 2008.
Surviving are two sons, Mark (Rosie) Kessler of Bowling Green and Dean (Nancy) Kessler of Carey, seven grandchildren, Dawn (Rick) Murphy, Carrie Kessler, Laurie (Mike) Pollack, Anna Godfrey, Josh (Vicki Andronis) Kessler, Sarah (Alan) Furey, and Aj. (Kevin Dresel) Kessler; and five great-grandchildren .
She also was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
A 1940 graduate of Carey High School, she was a reporter for the Daily Chief Union and Marion Star newspapers.
Ruth was a member of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey and the Rosary Altar Society.
Friends will be received 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at the Original Shrine Church in Carey, with the Rev. John Stowe officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Carey.
Memorial contributions may be made to O.L.C. School Endowment Fund or the shrine elevator fund in care of Stombaugh-Batton Funeral Home in Carey.
