Marilyn J. Lorah, 89, of Sycamore, died at 8:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Upper Sandusky.
She was born Oct. 29, 1924, to Edward and Lola (Hatch) Earnest. She married John Lorah Jan. 5, 1945, and he died Feb. 8, 1989.
Surviving are a son-in-law, Peter Markieviez of Sycamore; two granddaughters, Maria (Larry) Danner of rural Sycamore and Wendy (Darrell) Ochier of Sycamore; four great-grandchildren, Ashley Ochier, John Danner, Jena Ochier and Molly Danner; and one great-great-granddaughter, Paige Lorah Vehrs.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Markieviez, who died Sept. 27, 1998, besides her husband and parents.
Marilyn was a graduate of Plymouth High School and Tiffin University. She, at one time, worked for the former Simonis Chevrolet, Sycamore, and then retired from Sycamore Telephone Co. She was a member of Sycamore United Church of Christ, Mohawk Lioness Club, Mohawk Sixty-Plus Club, the Travelers Club, was a former Girl Scout leader and formerly belonged to Sycamore Little Theatre Club.
For hobbies, Marilyn loved to go on bus trips, take drives to Lake Erie, spend time with her family and, especially loved to watch the Sycamore Grasshoppers baseball team.
A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, 201 W. Saffel Ave., Sycamore, with the Rev. Robin LaBolt officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Bretz Cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at the funeral home.
