Church to host organ recital Sunday
The Heidelberg University School of Music and Theatre is to host an organ recital by Anthony Williams at 4 p.m. Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ. Now serving as associate professor of music and university organist at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., Williams also is organist and choir director at First Presbyterian Church in Hendersonville, Tenn. He has performed at various churches, festivals and schools across the U.S., as well as in Europe and Central America.
Williams' program in Tiffin is to include selections from composers such as J.S. Bach, Joseph Jongen, Louis Vierne, Mark Fax, Ralph Simpson and Florence Price. His Heidelberg performance is sponsored by the School of Music and Theatre, the Toledo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and Trinity UCC. The concert is free.
Mass on Heidelberg campus Sunday
A Catholic Mass is set for 7 p.m. Sunday in Herbster Chapel inside Pfleiderer Hall on the Heidelberg University campus. Father Frank Murd is to be the celebrant. The Mass is sponsored by the Heidelberg Catholic Newman Club and Campus Ministry.
Beans, rice dinner set for March 24
The 25th annual Beans and Rice Dinner is to be served at 5:30 p.m. March 24 at St. Francis Spirituality Center, 200 St. Francis Ave. A short prayer service and dinner are to take place in the Canticle Cafe. At 6:30 p.m., guests are to head to the south room of the center for a talk by Mary Anne Perrone, an advocate for the poor and oppressed of Central America.
