Instructors sought for KidsCollege

FREMONT Lifelong Learning at Terra State Community College is looking for individuals who would like to teach during the summer's KidsCollege session.

Course offerings very from year to year, but include classes in art, computers, fitness, history, language, math, music, science and more.

The courses are developed for children in first through eighth grades.

KidsCollege is July 14-18.

UF local graduates

FINDLAY The University of Findlay has announced the fall graduates.

Local students that graduated include Lauren Hafley of Tiffin, master's degree in occupational therapy; Mariah Hohman of Tiffin, bachelor's degree of science in intervention specialist education; Tyler Logan of Tiffin, bachelor's degree of science in childhood education; and Amanda Munoz of Tiffin, master's degree in occupational therapy.

Dayton dean's list

DAYTON Local students named to the University of Dayton's dean's list for the 2013 fall semester include Alexandria Digby, Andrianna Iannantuono, George Iannantuono, and Justin Reinhart, all of Fostoria; Jarrod Wurm of Republic; and Sam Arnold and Marissa Lasky, both of Tiffin.

AKRON Joseph Diehm of Attica has graduated from the University of Akron, earning a bachelor's degree of science in early childhood education.

Local students named to honors list

BEXLEY Capital University has named local students to honors lists for the fall 2013 semester.

Local students named to the president's list include Courtney Eads and Jessica Potts, both of Clyde; and Kayla Keller and Oscar O'Flaherty, both of Carey.

Local students named to the provost's list include Aric Billings, Brook Billings, Leah Marty and Christine Potts, all of Clyde; Taylor Conway and Daniel Newell, both of Upper Sandusky; Collen Fondessy of Fostoria; and Jessica Lucius of Attica.

Local students named to the dean's list include Rebecca Martin and Marissa Price, both of Tiffin; and Gretchen Williams of Carey.

Purdue announced local graduates

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University awarded about 3,400 degrees to students following the fall semester.

Local students that earned degrees include Heidi Blubaugh of Attica, bachelor's of science degree in agriculture; and Mark Kwiatkowski of Clyde, bachelor's of science degree in mechanical engineering.

FINDLAY Erin Reinhart-Anez, a 2013 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School, and Alaina Counts, a 2011 graduate from Arcadia High School, performed in The University of Findlay's student piano recital.

Tiffin student earns scholarship

WILMINGTON Emily Daniel of Tiffin is the recipient of a $12,500 Academic Achievement Scholarship to attend Wilmington College.

Local residents receive state scholarships

COLUMBUS The Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges, through its Ohio Scholars Program, awarded 1,003 scholarships statewide to students in its 34 member colleges for the 2013-14 academic year.

Local recipients include Christopher Liebold of Green Springs; Andrew Hoover, Michelle Seislove, Stephen Smith, and Molly Sullivan, all of Tiffin.

Retired teachers offer scholarships

The Seneca County Retired Teachers Association is to award a monetary grant to a high school senior residing in Seneca County who plans to peruse a career in the field of education.

Application information is available at area high school guidance counselors. Applications are to be returned no later than April 11. The winner is to be notified after May 15.

TU professor named dean

James Padilla, associate professor of business law and sport management at Tiffin University, has been named the dean of TU's School of Business.

TU trustees promote faculty members

During the February meeting of the Tiffin University Board of Trustees, the board designated Chuck Christensen as dean emeritus, effective in May.

Also during the meeting the board promoted faculty members including Jonathan Apple, Vinnie Gajjala and Vince Moore to the rank of professor; Matt Bereza, Gene Chintala, Vickie Ingalls and Sharon Perry-Nause to associate professor; and Lacy Ellis to assistant professor.

Heidelberg to host student research conference

A record number of more than 100 Heidelberg University students are to present research at the 21st annual "Minds at Work" Student Research Conference Thursday.

Keynote speaker for this years conference is Crystal B. Lake, assistant professor of English languages and literature at Wright State University. Lake is to present "The Scholar Adventures in the 21st Century: New Research and Discoveries in the Humanities."

Local students to present include Sheldon Miller of Republic; Chrstopher Osborne, Lynda Hyde, Dinah Adams, Kayla Graves, Joshua Springer, Bryce Riggs, Tanner Fisher, Rush Arbogast, Alexa Frank and Alexander Vogel, all of Tiffin; Elizabeth Hucke of McCutchenville; Anna Sisco of Bettsville; and Corinne Shaull of Upper Sandusky.

Airman Clay W. Magers

Air Force Airman Clay W. Magers graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Magers is the son of Pamela Magers of Paducah, Ky., and nephew of Chris Magers of Tiffin.

He is a 2013 graduate of Hopewell Loudon High School, Bascom.
