Chevy plus a whole new look

Baumann Auto Group adds Chevrolet line, begins total remodel

After acquiring the Chevrolet franchise in May 2013, Baumann Auto Group of Tiffin has been in the midst of a remodeling project to update and enhance the look of its dealership.

Dave Conn, general manager of Baumann, said the project began with the acquisition of Chevy, in order for Baumann to remain consistent with the image of the Chevrolet brand.

According to standards, he said, the overall look of a Chevy dealership is mandated by GM, and even the smallest details - down to countertops, materials and chairs - must follow the specifications set by the company.

When the remodel is finished, Conn said, customers "will not recognize" Baumann.

Not only is the interior of the building being "torn down to its pillars," he said, but the exterior will have "a whole new faade."

Conn said introducing Chevy back to the Tiffin market has been "great, to say the least," and the dealership hopes to increase recognition of the presence of the Chevy line at Baumann's with the unveiling of its new look.

Conn said work at the dealership began in late September, and a projected completion date is early May.

While the inclement winter weather has been a hindrance to the project, he said, Clouse Construction, contractor for the project, has worked hard to keep the work flowing and make up for weather delays.

Now, he said, the project is about at its mid-point, and many of the bigger elements have been completed.

For example, Conn said, an overhaul of the dealership's service department is complete, and features a drive-through area to improve ease-of-access and the comfort of Baumann's service customers.

Customers in the sales area at Baumann, he said, definitely will see elements of transformation within the dealership, and a hint of the finished product.

Conn said work on the project has remained local, from hiring Clouse Construction to manage construction work to ensuring material purchases are made from local companies.

With the Chevy name back in the Tiffin market, Baumann remains committed to providing excellent service and products to customers. As the dealership's new design is unveiled, allowing the Chevrolet image to shine, Conn said Baumann is focused on "taking care of each customer," and ensuring the selection of cars and trucks available through the family of Baumann dealerships is unmatched.
