Opal Pauline “Polly” McBride

Opal Pauline "Polly" McBride, 97, of Fostoria, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, at the Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.

She was born April 15, 1916, in Lima, to Charles and Maggie (Bailey) Snyder. She married Walter W. Meyers and he preceded her in death. She later married Victor N. Dunn and he died in 1983. She moved from Findlay to Florida and there she married William McBride. He also is deceased.

Pauline is survived by her son, Arthur (Nancy) Meyers of Tiffin; her daughter, Pamela (Ron Taylor) Young of Findlay; a son-in-law, Dennis (Sharon) Gershutz of Toledo; her sister, Belva (Clarence) Weeks of Hilliard; three stepsons, Tom (Connie) Dunn and Pat and Mickey McBride; a step-daughter, Susan (Michael) Borek; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Melonie Gerschutz, and a grandson, Mark Gerschutz.

Polly worked at Osterman Jewelers in Findlay for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Elks Lodge 1557 in New Smyrna Beach, Fla. She also was a member of the South Daytona Christian Church and First Christian Church, Findlay. Polly loved playing bingo and cards.

The funeral is 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 5, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Myers officiating. Visitation will take place 11 a.m. Wednesday until the service begins at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Lafayette Cemetery, Allen County.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and/or Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.
