Charles E. Niedermier

Charles E. Niedermier, 87, of New Washington, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014, at Bucyrus Community Hospital, Bucyrus.

He was born Sept. 23, 1926, in Crawford County, to Linus and Dolores (Blust) Niedermier and had been a life-long New Washington resident. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served as a pharmicist 3rd class during World War II and received the American Theatre Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Mr. Niedermier retired from Mansfield Brass, New Washington, and was a former New Washington Volunteer Fireman. He was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Washington, and the American Legion Post No. 405. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, antiques, traveling, casino gambling and following the Cleveland Indians.

He is survived by two sons, Kevin (Christine) Niedermier of South Euclid and Joseph Niedermier of New Washington; a daughter, Annette (Gerald) Sanders of Willard; four grandchildren, Evan, Reece, Ava and Claire; two sisters, Lila Rigdon of Galion and Laurena Van Eerten of New Washington; two brothers, James Niedermier of Tiro and Robert Niedermier of Attica; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna (Bechtel) Niedermier, who passed away June 8, 1999; a sister, Vivian Morton; and a brother, Benny Niedermier.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Secor Funeral Home, New Washington.

His funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Washington, with Father Eric Culler officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, New Washington.
