Calvin Dennis Bean

Calvin Dennis Bean, 65, of Tiffin, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at Bridge Hospice, Findlay.

He was born Aug. 31, 1948, in Tiffin, to Calvin E. and Dorothy (Ross) Bean. He married Sharon K. Bare Aug. 9, 1969, and they later divorced.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Dennis Bean; mother, Dorothy Bean; sister, Debra Elaine Bean, all of Tiffin; and fiance, Dorothy Siebenaller of Tiffin.

His father preceded him in death June 18, 1998.

Calvin, also known as Denny by his family, graduated from Columbian High School in 1966. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion 7th Marines India Company during the Vietnam War. He was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart and Medal of Valor.

Calvin worked at General Electric, Tiffin, for 20 years, Norton Crank Shaft, Fostoria, and RCA, Harris Corp. and Intersill, all in Findlay. He was a life member of DAV, Tiffin AMVETS Post No. 48, VFW Tiffin Post No. 2858, and also was a member of American Legion Post No. 402. Calvin enjoyed target shooting, fishing, loved animals and will be remembered for being big hearted.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, with Chaplain Kathie Tomazic from Bridge Hospice officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin, with military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. until the time of his funeral Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local veterans organization of choice or to Bridge Hospice, Findlay.
