Mervin J. Keegan, 98, of Green Springs, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at his home. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Keegan was born Feb. 15, 1916, in Vickery, to Frederick and Bessie (Opper) Keegan. He married Alice Louise Swartz Dec. 11, 1940, and she preceded him in death June 7, 1998.
She is survived by three sons, Donald Keegan and Ronald Keegan, both Fremont, and David Keegan of Green Springs; five daughters, Karen Bauman of Green Springs, Sandra (Paul) Danlefsen and Darlene Hollis, both of Fremont, Cinda Stout of Green Springs and Kimberly (Michael) Clevinger of Republic; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Lytle "Gug" Keegan of Green Springs.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Danny Keegan; four brothers, Harvey, Ivan, Rollie and Alva Keegan; five sisters, Voledia Otto, Opal Hoke, Helen Nye, Doris Franks and Bertha Cook; and two infant siblings, Sterling and Eileen.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today, March 25, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Clyde.
His funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, with military honors.
