Recital features violin, piano Sunday afternoon
Heidelberg University School of Music and Theatre professor Ioana Galu is to be joined by former faculty member Pierre van der Westhuizen for "An Afternoon of Solo and Chamber Music" at 3 p.m. Sunday in Brenneman Music Hall on campus.
With Galu on violin and van der Westhuizen on piano, the duo is to perform classical works composed by Johann Sebastian Bach, Fritz Kreisler, Henryk Wieniawski and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Admission is free.
Strand books blues group
FREMONT - Steve Gornall and the Blue Collar Blues Band is to give an 8 p.m. show Saturday at The Strand Concert Theatre, 220 S. Front St., Fremont.
Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Attendees can bring their own beverages. Refreshments also can be purchased.

Community band to play
FOSTORIA - The Fostoria Community Band is to present a spring concert at 2:30 p.m. April 6 at Fostoria Intermediate Elementary School.
The program is to include marches, hymns, folk tunes and old-time favorites, including "God of Our Fathers," "The Black Horse Troop," "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "American Riversongs."
Donations are to be accepted following the concert to support the band.
Diamond to shine in area
NORWALK - The Towne and Country Concert Series is to present "The Neil Diamond Project" in concert at 8 p.m. April 5 at Norwalk High School Performing Arts Center.
The headliner is Gary Gomez and his nine-piece band and singers performing Diamond's classics hits, including "Sweet Caroline," "America," "Hello, Again!" and "I'm a Believer."
Tickets are $15 for reserved seats, which can be ordered at (419) 668-1641 or the night of the show. General admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and younger.
The Stagecoach Bash, originally slated for Jan. 25, has been rescheduled for April 5 at Meadowbrook Park Ballroom in Bascom. All proceeds are to benefit the Tiffin Little League Football program.
The doors open at 6 p.m. and the first of three bands takes the stage at 6:15. The Eric Sowers Band, MARS and Mosquito Creek are to provide music.
Free local cab service is to be available 10:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Bring your own beverages and snacks.
