Bernard E. ‘Barney’ Huss

Bernard E. "Barney" Huss, 86, of Fairview Park and formerly Tiffin, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Tiffin, to Arthur J. and Bertha (Bolander) Huss.

Survivors include his sister, Helen Packham of Indianapolis, Ind.; sister-in-law, Nancy Huss of Clyde; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Richard Kappus of Toledo and Charles Roth of Tiffin; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Rita Kappus, Agnes Roth and Pat Hager; and four brothers, Paul, Bill, John and Tom Huss.

Barney was a member of St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, Fairview Park, and St. Joseph Catholic Church while growing up in Tiffin. He worked at Fisher Body, Lorain, for many years and as a clerk for the U.S. Post Office, Fairview Park, for more than 23 years. He enjoyed playing the piano and getting together with friends to play cards.

His Mass of Christian burial will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin.

Friends may visit with the family from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. Prayers will be said at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Angela Merici, 20970 Lorain Road, Fairview Park, OH 44126.
