First half struggles cost TU?lacrosse against?Findlay
FINDLAY - After watching Findlay flat-out dominate the first half, Tiffin University's lacrosse team was able to recover, but wasn't able to overtake the Oilers.
Findlay led 14-1 at halftime, and held on for an 18-11 win over the Dragons.
Findlay controlled things in the first half, out-shooting TU 27-4. Sarah Lankton and Nicole Stine each converted six goals, while Mackenzie Barnwell had three and Kyra Bradley had two for UF.
Gina Abulone paced Tiffin with three goals, while Kaley Weinheimer, Emily Roussel and Alexis MacMillan had two.
Jessica Bombard had 10 saves in goal for TU, which slipped to 2-9, 0-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Findlay improved to 4-6, 2-0.
TU erupts in Game 2 to salvage split
VIENNA, W. Va - Tiffin's softball team suffered a tough loss in its first game against Ohio Valley College.
It appeared to take out its frustration over that loss in Game 2.
After falling, 6-4 to the Scots, the Dragons rebounded with a five-inning, 14-1 victory.
In the first game, the Dragons got a homer from Madison Yanek, and led 4-0 after four innings. But the Scots erupted for five runs in the fifth, added a run in the sixth and picked up the win.
Donna O'Bryant homered for Ohio Valley, while Kristine Brown picked up the win in the circle.
Kelsey Yaratch took the loss.
In the second game, the Dragons used a pair of big innings - a five-run first and a six-run fifth - to leave the Scots behind.
Tamira Link homered and drove in three runs, while Yanek homered again. Taylor Spang recorded the win, as the Dragons moved to 14-7 this season.
'Berg tennis doubles up BW
BEREA - Sofey Fugate and Katie Strahan were part of two wins, and Heidelberg's women's tennis team doubled up on Baldwin Wallace, 6-3.
Fugate scored a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 win in No. 1 singles over BW's Kelsey Blatt, then teamed with Strahan to pick up an 8-3 over Blatt and Mackenzie Baker.
Strahan beat Morgan Baker in a singles match, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6).
Deidre Potter got another win for Heidelberg, beating the Yellow Jackets' Claire Watts 6-2, 7-5. Sarah Sara Potts aided HU's cause by topping Mackenzie Baker, 6-1, 2-6, 7-5.
Potter and Nicole Millar also picked up a doubles win over Mackenzie Donalson and Mackenzie Baker, 8-2.
