Madelyn L. Fruth

Madelyn L. Fruth, 85, of Republic, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at her home.

She was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Adams Township, Seneca County, to John H. and Edna L. (Britner) Ohler. She married George E. Fruth March 14, 1948, in Republic, and he survives in Republic.

Other survivors include two sons, Michael (Cecilia) Fruth and Thomas (Lisa) Fruth, both of Republic; four daughters, Linda Conn of Mukwonago, Wis., Christine (Carl) Gable of Ottawa, Kathleen (Thomas) Fries of Republic and Edna "Susie" (William) Robinson of Alliance; 22 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nancy Stockdale and Margaret Aichholz; and four brothers, Hilton, Charles, John and Paul Ohler.

Madelyn was a 1946 graduate of Scipio-Republic High School, a member of Reed Council No. 31, Seneca County Farm Bureau, served for 22 years on the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and 20 years as an election poll worker in Reed Township.

Her funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Republic United Church of Christ, 312 S. Madison St., Republic, with Pastor Darla Metz officiating. Burial will follow at Farewell Retreat Cemetery, Republic.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Miller Conservation Farm or Seneca East Public Library.
