Nicholas A. Heil Jr., 87, of Tiffin, died at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Tiffin, to Nicholas and Mary (Tiell) Heil Sr. He married his first wife, LeVone Schwab in 1948. They divorced and she died May 31, 1993. He then married Betty Valentine April 12, 1986, and she survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Steven (Mary) Heil of Tiffin and Nicholas Todd (Heather) Heil of Forest; three stepdaughters, Kimberly (Steve) Nedolast of Fostoria, Becky (Mike) Femeyer of Batesville, Ind., and Dana Bentz of Tiffin; a stepson, David Renninger of Tiffin; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rebecca Stetzy; a stepson, Gary Renninger; and a sister, Alice Hahler.
Nick served as seaman for the Merchant Marines from 1943-1946 during World War II. He retired as a die test engineer.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. today, April 11, 2014, and 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-3113. The Quarter Century Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Pastor Mark Brodbeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Bloom Township, with military rites performed by the Upper Sandusky Veterans' Color Guard.
