FOSTORIA - Josh Thompson is coming to the area Saturday to headline "Country Fest at the Nest" in Fostoria.
Thompson's blue collar roots in the construction trades have flavored the songs he has written, according to publicity material.
In 2005, the Wisconsin-bred singer-songwriter moved to Nashville, Tenn. Supporting himself with construction work, he continued writing and played on weekends. Before long, other country artists were picking up his compositions. In less than a year, he had a publishing contract.
Thompson's hits include "Won't Be Lonely Long," "Way Out Here" and "Cold Beer with Your Name on It."
Doors open Saturday at 6:30 p.m., with the Brent Lowry Band performing at 7, followed by Eric Sowers at 7:50, Clark Manson at 8:20, Abbi Scott at 9:25 and Thompson at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $22 at the door or in advance by calling (419) 934-5222.
The New Nest is at 11295 Columbus Ave., Fostoria. Go to www.ohiocountryconcerts.com for more information.
