Sister Helen B. Linder, formerly Sister Mary Gerard, of the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, died at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2014, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five sisters, Catherine Gonya, Marie Linder, Josephine Huguenard, Rita Linder and Rosemary Perrine.
Sister Helen served in various ministries such as nursing, congregational leadership, chaplaincy, congregational archivist and coordinator of the media center. Her nursing ministry led her to Mercy Tiffin Hospital, Linton Hospital, Linton, N.D., to Lourdes Hospital, Paducah, Ky., and to the congregational infirmary, Tiffin. While ministering in Paducah, Sister Helen also served as obstetrical supervisor and was appointed to the Kentucky State Board of Nursing by Gov. Louis B. Nunn.
One of the highlights of Sister Helen's life was the time she spent researching information as she updated the history of the Sisters of St. Francis. She developed a deep appreciation for the pioneer sisters' work and commitment, and an understanding of how our charism and value as a religious community highly impacted the local church.
