Mohawk FFA held its 56th annual banquet April 10 at Mohawk High School. The meal was catered by Special Occasions.
The top salespeople - Meghan Chaffee, Morgan Edgington. Jena Baum and Ciara Long - in the fruit and annual fall barbeque sales received awards.
Freshman Nathan Kimmet, sophomore Paige Sigler, junior Chaffee and senior Sabrina McDermott received a scholarship for academic excellence. Members who received leadership scholarships were Baum, McKenzie Binau, Jonathon Daniel, Edgington, Katie Pinkston, Emily Pursell, Vanessa Stull and Katie Vogel.
Members who received Greenhand Degrees were Binau, Daniel, Natalie Ford, Hevean Imele, Kaela Kozel, Kimmet, Pursell, Vogel, Brooke Weinandy, Carson Weinandy, Ethan Weir and Jace Welter. Members that received their Chapter Degree were Baum, Caleb Bollinger, Tori Chaney, Megan Cleveland, Edgington, Bleac Kearns, Cambria Kohlenberg, Joanie Lininger, Megan Ohl, Pinkston, Logan Reinhart, Sigler, Dominic Smith, Sara Spencer, Stull and Jordan Wheeler. Members who are to receive the State Degree in May are Chaffee, Long and Lydia Coldiron. Members who are to receive the American Degree in October are Lindsay Daniel, Grant Price and Darby Walton.
The Star Chapter award was given to Edgington. The Outstanding Junior Award was presented to Chaffee. Senior Emily Daniel received the DeKalb Award. Lininger received the honorary Chapter Degree.
Mohawk graduate and FFA member Jarred Shellhouse addressed the crowd. He serves as the Ohio State FFA treasurer.
Officers for 2014-2015 were installed, including Chaffee, president; Sigler, vice president; Baum, secretary; Bri Thiery, treasurer; Lininger, reporter; Cleveland, sentinel; Stull, student adviser; Edgington, historian.
