James R. Fretz, 81, of Republic, passed away Friday evening, May 2, 2014, at his home after an illness of several months.
He was born March 5, 1933, in Republic, to Earl and Doris (Miller) Fretz. He married Wilma Dean June 5, 1955, at St. Jacob's UCC Church in Republic, and she survives in Republic.
Other survivors include a son, Douglas (Ann) Fretz of Tiffin; three daughters, Diana (Chuck) Laterza of Ada, Debra (Mark) Rohrbacher and Donna (Jay) Mason, all of Republic; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother, David (Jan) Fretz; and a sister, Mardelle (Richard) Barrell, all of Republic.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, Matthew Mason.
Jim was a farmer and a dairy farmer, retiring in 2000.
He was a member of the St. Jacob's United Church of Christ-Republic, a US Army Korean Conflict veteran, a member of the Wade Benfer American Legion Post No. 404 - Republic and the Green Springs VFW.
His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the St. Jacobs United Church of Christ on CR. 38, Republic, with the Rev. Mark Booster officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Jacob's Cemetery, Republic.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 South SR. 19, Bloomville.
