Another year of birthdays will be celebrated Monday at Tiffin's fifth-annual Relay For Life Birthday Bash.
The event, which begins at noon, will help supporters kick off the community's Relay For Life week. Coordinators aim to keep the celebration to about 45 minutes, to allow donors and other visitors the opportunity to stop by during a typical lunch break.
The bash will feature speaker Melissa Ison, a breast cancer survivor, who will advocate for the importance of birthdays in the fight against cancer.
Officials from the community also will speak to guests at the bash.
In honor of Peg Lucius, the speaker at the first Birthday Bash five years ago, the Peg Lucius Dash Award will be given during the event. Lucius lost her fight against cancer shortly after speaking at the bash, and the Dash Award seeks to celebrate her life by recognizing an individual who lives with the same courage and inspiration as she did.
Birthday Bash T-shirts, which have been for sale in past months, will be worn for the event, and balloons will be released to honor cancer survivors, those who have died and cancer patients.
The bash will take place at the gazebo on Frost Parkway, and the public is welcome to attend.
