Thursday deadline for Firelands forum
Firelands Regional Medical Center and Counseling and Recovery Services is to offer its annual forensic conference 8:30-4:30 p.m. May 21 at Terra State Community College, Fremont. An expert on addiction and recovery, Cardwell Nuckols, is to be the presenter.
The conference is free but reservations are needed by calling (800) 242-5393 by Thursday. Registration is limited to the first 250 registrants from professionals serving Erie, Huron, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca and Wyandot counties.
Special hours for Clyde museum, home
CLYDE - The Clyde Museum will be closing at 3 p.m. Thursday, but the McPherson House will be open 3:30-5:30. This is prior to the Civil War program scheduled at Clyde Public Library with Gen. McPherson and comrades 6-7:15 p.m.
On temporary exhibit at the McPherson House will be a McPherson campaign chest and an 1848-49 course book from the Norwalk Institute showing James B. McPherson enrolled. This special exhibit is courtesy of the Firelands Historical Society Museum, Norwalk.
McPherson, portrayed by Scott Thomas of Pennsylvania, will be participating in the Stemtown Historical Society's Civil War Days this weekend.
The McPherson House also will be open Memorial Day until 1 p.m.
Farmers' market slated
FOSTORIA - The Farmers' Market in Fostoria has a gardening theme for May. It is set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
Local greenhouses and markets will have plants and seeds for sale and Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer questions. Other vendors will have food, crafts and gifts for sale.
Mental health board sets meetings for May
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties has announced its meetings for May.
The administrative/finance committee is to meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Conference Room 1 at Tiffin Developmental Center.
The planning and monitoring/evaluation committee meetings are at 4:30 p.m. May 21 in Conference Room 1 at TDC.
The board meeting is at 4:30 p.m. May 29 in Conference Room 2 at TDC.
St. Francis seminar to give updates on illness
St. Francis Senior Ministries will be hosting an educational seminar at 6:30 p.m. May 22 in the multipurpose room at St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave.
The speaker will be Marquita Smith from Help & Assistance with Neuromuscular Disorders. Attendees can learn about neuromuscular disorders, how HAND can help, tour the new therapy area at St. Francis Home and talk to therapists.

Senior expo planned
FREMONT Terra State Community College is hosting its first Life Scholars Expo, "Pathways to a Better Life," June 3 at Terra's campus, 2830 Napoleon Road, Fremont.
The event will feature speakers and displays from area vendors. The keynote speaker is Diana Waugh, certified dementia consultant with Waugh Consulting. Her presentation is titled, "I'm Still in Here Come Find Me My Todays are a Blur, but My Yesterdays are My Strength."

Vicki Meade, registered nurse and director of Hospice of Memorial Hospital, "Hospice: Care Beyond Cure."
