New Mexican restaurant Burrito Loko is moving into the former Iron Gate Cafe and two storefronts in the Laird Arcade Building after finalizing a lease Tuesday.
Tiffin Community Reinvestment Group LLC property manager Tyler Shuff said after about six months of discussion, the lease has been finalized and work is to begin immediately to create an open space for the restaurant and the addition of a bar area.
With the renovations of the old Iron Gate Cafe space and storefront space at 66 and 68 E. Market St., Shuff said the restaurant is to make a heavy investment in downtown.
The restaurant also is to utilize the city's downtown revitalization district, which will allow the restaurant to purchase a liquor license, Shuff said.
With the addition of the restaurant, the Beehive Cafe in the former Coffee Break, two yoga studios and a patent lawyer, Shuff said the Laird Arcade Building's first floor is to be full.
"They're going to be a great addition to the building," Shuff said. "It's going to give something different downtown."
The restaurant is expected to be open by the end of summer.
