Pearl Adams Vazquez, 98, of Toledo, died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Sunset Village in Sylvania.
She was born August 15, 1915, in Columbus, to Warren and Gertrude (Romain) Mahaffey. She married Maurice Adams and he preceded her in death in 1961. She married Jose Vazquez in 1972 and he died in 2000.
She is survived by her two sisters, Mildred Ford of Pemberville and Laura Murphy of Toledo.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Allan and Charles Adams; four brothers, Clarke, John, Warren and Charles Mahaffey; and a sister, Ruth Buckwell.
Pearl was a 1932 graduate of Lake Township High School and later graduated, with her bachelor's of arts, from Bowling Green State University.
Pearl was a teacher for 28 years. Pearl was very active in the community, being a member of the American Society, Salvation Army Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma NU Chapter, Bowling Green, Business & Professional Women of Fostoria, Child Conservation League, Ohio Education Association and National Education Association. Over her life, she was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Fostoria, associate member of All Saints Lutheran Church, Guadalajara, Mexico, and attended Monroe Street United Methodist Church, Toledo.
Visitation will be 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday, June 23,2014, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, with the service starting at 2:30 p.m.
Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, West Millgrove.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in care of the funeral home.
