ATTICA - A man was transported by Life Flight after the motorhome he was driving overturned on SR 4 Monday afternoon.
Stephen Hoover of Attica was driving the 1991 Ford motorhome north on SR 4 when it went off the east side of the road. It struck a ditch, overturned onto its right side and struck a telephone pole.
Sgt. Angel Burgos of State Highway Patrol said Hoover was trapped in the vehicle.

Rescue personnel inspect a motorhome that overturned on SR 4, several miles south of Attica, Monday afternoon.
"He had to be extracted by non-mechanical means," he said.
Burgos said rescue personnel got him out of the motorhome through the right front side of the windshield. He said he did not know whether Hoover was wearing a seatbelt.
The telephone pole partially entered the motorhome. Burgo said Hoover was lucky.
"He was conscious," he said.
Hoover was taken from the scene by Life Flight to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. He sustained serious injuries, Burgos said.
The crash was under investigation Monday afternoon. Hoover had not been cited as of Monday evening, a State Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Josh Irwin was driving a semi behind Hoover's motorhome and said the vehicle caught the shoulder and went over into the ditch. It happened at about 55 mph but seemed slow, he said.
Irwin said he was on the phone calling 911 before he got out of his truck.
Michael Lewis, another witness, said it looked like it was happening in slow motion.
"There's no shoulder," he said.
Lewis said he got Hoover stabilized, made sure he was breathing and coherent, and talked to him.
"He wanted to get out of there," he said.
Hoover's mother, Grace Hoover, was in a vehicle behind Irwin's truck. She expressed appreciation for all the help.
Personnel from Attica EMS, Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District, Bloom Township Volunteer Fire Department, Bloomville EMS, the county's Echo unit, Seneca County Sheriff's Office and State Highway Patrol responded to the accident.
Ohio Department of Transportation personnel set up a detour around the accident scene. The accident occurred about 1:45 p.m. Monday.
