Christmas early in Bettsville; no promise it'll be a white one
BETTSVILLE - Experience Christmas in July at H.P. Eells Park Saturday.
Children's crafts are to be offered at 1 p.m. prior to Santa's arrival at 2 p.m. An ice cream fundraiser also is planned.
Admission to the park is free. The charge for swimming is $2 for children ages 6-12 and $3 for adults. Proceeds will be used for improvements needed for the walking path, ball fields and shelter houses at the park, 7800 N. TR 70, just south of Bettsville.
MHRS meetings scheduled
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Seneca, Sandusky and Wyandot Counties has announced its meetings for July.
The administrative/finance committee is to meet at 4:30 p.m. Monday in Conference Room 1 at Tiffin Developmental Center. The planning and monitoring/evaluation committee meetings are at 4:30 p.m. July 22 in Conference Room 1 at TDC. The board meeting is at 4:30 p.m. July 31 in Conference Room 2 at TDC.
Museum program to spotlight vacation spots a century ago
A history of area vacation "hot spots" is the topic for the Seneca County Museum's Summer Luncheon July 26 in the Fort Ball Room. A picnic-style lunch with desserts is to be served at 1 p.m., followed by the program and door prizes.
Tickets for the luncheon are $15, and reservations are required by calling Ann Harry at (419) 448-0074 or the museum at (419) 447-5955. All proceeds from this benefit will be used to help keep the museum open.
Park to host car, bike show
BLOOMVILLE - A Country Cruise Show is scheduled 11 a.m.-3 p.m. July 26 at Garlo Nature Preserve, 6777 S. SR 19, Bloomville. The event is open to all makes, models and years of cars and motorcycles.
Registration fee is $10, and proceeds are to benefit the Seneca County Park District. In addition to the vehicle show, there will be free wagon rides, fishing, hiking, tours of the log house, food, music and a 50/50 drawing. Awards for the vehicles will be given at 3 p.m.

Gourmet Gala returning
The Franciscan Earth Literacy Center is conducting its annual Summer Harvest Gourmet Gala 6-9 p.m. Aug. 8 on the St. Francis campus. Guests can gather outdoors under a tent to enjoy musical entertainment as they dine on gourmet fare, local wines and craft beers.
Hors d'oeuvres are to be served at 6, with dinner at 7 and a live auction and raffle drawings at 8. The cost is $80 per individual, or $520 for a table of eight. Payment can be by check or credit card.
Proceeds benefit the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center. The registration deadline is Aug. 1. More information is posted at www.felctiffin.org.
Summer version of museum, gallery art walk slated Aug. 9
Museum Gallery Alliance is organizing a summer museum/gallery art walk 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 9 in downtown Tiffin.
Participating museums and galleries are American Civil War Museum of Ohio; Diane Kidd Gallery at Tiffin University; Seneca County Museum; Enchanted Moment Doll Museum; Tiffin Art Guild and Gallery; Tiffin Glass Museum; and Tiffin Historic Trust's Grammes-Brown House.
Seventeen other locations also are to participate with crafts, art exhibits, demonstrations and programs, refreshments and door prizes. Tour the Ritz Theatre, the four museums or listen to street music on a walking tour. An architectural treasure hunt also is featured.
