Robert Lloyd Stumpp

Robert Lloyd Stumpp, 91, of Canton, died Friday, July 18, 2014.

He was born Feb. 25, 1923, to Dewey and Corrine Stumpp. He was a World War II veteran who served in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper during the Battle of the Bulge and other significant battles.

He enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening and watching all sporting events. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and was inducted into the Canton Amateur Bowlers Hall of Fame.

He was a graduate of Columbian High School and Heidelberg College.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elizabeth "Betty"; four children, Christopher Stumpp, Debra J. (Nanette Engel) Stumpp, Doug Stumpp and Kurt (Jodie) Stumpp; and an aunt, Tilly Baran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Dan.

The family would like to give a special "thank you" to Dr. William Fayen and the doctors and nurses at Autman Hospital on the sixth floor, Woodlawn Rehabilitation and Autman Compassionate Care.

A private graveside service will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, Canton.
