Billy Dean Watkins, 75, of Bettsville, passed away at 6:18 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2014, at Bridge Hospice Center, Findlay.
Billy was born Feb. 6, 1939, in Hancock County, to Chellious and Bernice (Gibson) Watkins. He married Patricia Lamson June 17, 1961, in Green Springs, and she survives in Bettsville.
Survivors also include his three children, Franklin (Laura) Watkins of Concord Township, Cherie (William) Long of Fostoria and Charlene "Charlie" (David Gibson) Watkins of Clyde; a daughter-in-law, Kellie of Tiffin; a brother, Leo Watkins of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He retired from Atlas Crankshaft in 1993 and was a member of Zion United Church of Christ. He enjoyed wood burning, gardening, feeding squirrels and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a 1957 graduate of Old Fort High School.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen Watkins; four brothers; and one sister.
Visitation for friends and family will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory, 301 Union St., Bettsville.
Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at Green Springs Cemetery, with Pastor Adam Bohland officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridge Hospice, Community Hospice Care or to Zion United Church of Christ.
