William H. Weber, 84, of Green Springs, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2014, at Elmwood at the Springs, Green Springs.
He was born May 2, 1930, in Tiffin, to Herman F. and Florence May (Smith) Weber. He married Betty J. Collins Aug. 17, 1957, in Angola, Indiana, and she preceded him in death in 2009.
Survivors include three children, Margaret "Peggy" Tiell and Thomas R. (Sharon) Kipps, both of Fremont, and Michael Weber of Tiffin; two brothers, James (Carol) Weber of Decatur, Arkansas, and Donald W. Weber of Sun City, Arizona; a sister, Jane E. Hoffert of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Richard Weber; and two sisters, Viola Marie Gibson and Janet Sue Hemminger.
William was a crane operator for Focht Brothers, Tiffin, later retiring after building many bridges and reservoirs. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army during the Korean War with the 101st Airborne Division. William enjoyed vacationing in Alaska, visiting family, the outdoors and camping around the area. He loved animals, especially dogs.
His funeral will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424, with the Rev. Rex King officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, Tiffin, with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Friends may visit with the family from noon until the time of his funeral Friday at the funeral home.
