Russell E. Poole Sr., 72, of Fostoria, passed away Friday morning, July 25, 2014, at Promedica Toledo Hospital, Toledo.
He was born January 3, 1942, in Cleveland, to the late Albert C. and Agnes H. (Pearn) Poole. He married Hilda Quednau, his loving wife of 51 years, and she preceded him in death May 2, 2014.
Surviving are three children, Michelle Reinhart of Findlay, Gary (Cassie) Poole of Bascom and Russell Poole Jr. of Fostoria; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Patrick Poole, of Sycamore. He was especially proud of his grandson, SSG Timothy Poole, who serves in the U.S. Army.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Thomas and Herb Poole.
Russell was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having joined the service at the age of 17, and serving for six years, for which we are forever a grateful nation. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, AMVETS and Disabled American Veterans, where he served as commander.
He was a journeyman tool & die maker for Fremont Plastics, Fremont, and Inter Metro, Fostoria. He was a boxer and loved to fish, golf and play video games as well as sing, dance, play horse shoes and poker. Russell loved and enjoyed people and never knew a stranger.
After the love of his life Hilda passed away, he longed to be with her again, and now rejoices in their union.
Visitation will be noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, and the funeral will immediately follow at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, with the Rev. Paul Myers officiating.
Entombment will follow at Seneca Memory Gardens, Tiffin, where the United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors.
