Learn music skill at Heidelberg

The Community Music School at Heidelberg University is to offer group music classes as an introduction to musical experiences this fall.

"JUMPStart" group music classes are designed for those who want to further their musical interests without a large time or monetary commitment.

Classes are being offered in five-week sessions. Group classes now are forming in guitar for teens and adults and piano for beginners, advanced beginners and intermediate.

Registration for the first session goes through Sept. 8. Session two enrollment is Oct. 7-20.

Classes are $40 per class and participants may enroll in more than one class.

The music school also offers private music lessions including keyboard, piano, organ, guitar, voice and theory and composition.

Enrollment for private lessons is ongoing and flexible. Rates begin at $12 for 30 minutes.

Heidelberg professor to judge

Margarita Denenburg, assistant professor of music at Heidelberg University, served as adjudicator in the IPFW Gene Marcus Piano competition June 7 at Purdue University.

HU staffer presents at conferences

Kirsten Lindsay, director of Heidelberg University's Owen Academic and Support Center, presented "Reinventing Training for Entry-Level Conduct Officers" at the annual Student Affairs Assessment Conference at The Ohio State University in June.

Lindsay also presented "Workplace Positivity" at the 2014 Ohio Library Support Staff Institute conference at Wilmington College in July.
