A Fostoria man was indicted on a fourth-degree felony charge of assault this week for allegedly assaulting a police officer last month.
Peter F. Goldsmith, 45, was served his indictment Wednesday in the Seneca County Jail, according to court documents. He is accused of kneeing a police officer in the groin outside the Fostoria jail July 19. Goldsmith had just been transported to the jail following his arrest in the 600 block of Plaza Drive. There, a fight involving Goldsmith had been reported.
Goldsmith's bond was set at $40,000 Thursday by Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff.
