Irene Kuhn, 87, of Fostoria, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Thursday morning, Aug. 21, 2014, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born March 20, 1927, in Whitesburg, Kentucky, to John and Nevada (Brown) Cook. She married Paul Kuhn in November 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and he is deceased.
Surviving are five children, Robert P. (Pat) Kuhn of Tiffin, Sheila S. (Joe) Kromer of Carey, Linda F. (Scott) Heiden of Temperance, Michigan, David L. (Debra) Kuhn of Tiffin and Theresa M. (Paul) Williams of Fostoria; son-in-law, Peter Gallagher of Fostoria; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Billy (Rosie) Cook of Tiffin; and a sister, Nell Nunnery of Sumter, South Carolina.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Betty Jean Kuhn; daughter, Ruth Gallagher; grandson, Daniel Kuhn; three brothers, Conley, Carl and Lester Cook; and a sister, Edna Creeger.
Irene retired as restaurant manager of the Dark Horse Restaurant, New Riegel. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, and its Rosary Altar Society. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed taking care of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, where a Christian wake service will begin at 3:45 p.m.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, where a rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin School Educational Foundation, Shriners Hospitals for Children or Relay For Life.
