Middlebrooks, Redmen roll late

FOSTORIA — Alycia Middlebrooks fueled Fostoria's offensive eruption in the fourth quarter Saturday as the Redmen stormed past Arcadia 49-39.The teams entered halftime tied at 22, but Arcadia looked to gain momentum with a 14-6 advantage in the third quarter.Then Middlebrooks and the Redmen went to work.Middlebrooks scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the final quarter with the rest of her team accounting for six points over that stretch while Fostoria's defense held the Redskins to just three points.Amijah Poole added 10 points for the Redmen (9-10) and Lyrique Johnson scored seven.Addy Colman keyed Arcadia with 15 points, Ryleigh Bostic tossed in 11 and Jade Johnson had seven. Bishop, Snyder spark H-LOLD FORT — Olivia Bishop and Karsyn Snyder both tallied a double-double Saturday to propel Hopewell-Loudon past Sandusky Bay Conference River Division foe Old Fort 49-37.Bishop led all players with 18 points and Snyder scored 12, with both grabbing 13 rebounds for the Chieftains.Ariyanna Bishop netted another nine points and Sidney Brickner had six points and four steals.Adelyn Dick keyed the Stockaders with 15 points, Mackenzie Fortney added eight points and eight rebounds and Lucy King scored seven points. Golden Bears boot RaidersGIBSONBURG — Elly Evarts and Ansley Fleming combined for 37 points Saturday to key Gibsonburg's 53-40 Sandusky Bay Conference River Division win against Lakota.Evarts tossed in 19 points for the Golden Bears and Fleming scored 18.Ava Dawson backed them with seven points.Aubrey Vitte popped in a game-high 25 points for the Raiders, adding eight rebounds.Rylee Markel chipped in six points and six rebounds. Warriors cruise at Battle at the BerkeySMITHVILLE — Hunter Haynes keyed Mohawk in the first half and Boomer Cleveland did so after that Saturday as Mohawk stormed away from Hillsdale 62-38 at the Battle at the Berkey.The two-day event started in 2021 and traditionally pits teams from western Ohio against those from the eastern side of the state.Haynes sparked the Warriors early, hitting five of his six 3-pointers in the first half to help send his team into the break with a 31-26 lead.It was all Mohawk (15-1) from there.Cleveland netted 13 of his 17 game points in the second half, fueling Mohawk's 31-12 scoring advantage over the final two quarters.Haynes finished with a game-high 24 points, Kahne Hayman tossed in eight and Connor Flood scored seven.Cleveland also dished eight assists, Flood grabbed seven rebounds and Hayman handed out five assists.Brady Krichbaum's 16 points topped the Falcons (12-5). Fliers sideline TruckersNORWALK — Clyde found its offensive rhythm after the first quarter, especially in the third, on the way to dropping Norwalk 80-70 in Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division play.Norwalk led 18-11 after the opening period, but the Fliers never scored fewer than 20 points in a quarter after that.Still, Clyde trailed 35-31 at halftime before storming past the Truckers 29-17 in the third quarter to gain momentum.Brayden Olson poured in a game-high 28 points for the Fliers (10-8, 3-5 SBC), Brennan Wilson scored 17, Cedric Messer added 10, Oscar Webb netted nine and Chase Castle had eight.Brock Kuhl's 24 points keyed the Truckers (7-11, 1-7), while Mason Gamble scored 20, Garrett Demuth tallied 12 and Jordan Patriott had seven. Cold-shooting Chieftains find a wayBASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon overcame a horrible night of shooting from the floor with foul shots and rebounds to overtake Arcadia 28-27 Saturday.Neither team fared well from the floor. Arcadia ended 9 of 28 overall, but that was far better than Hopewell-Loudon's 8-for-43 showing.However, the Chieftains countered their frigid night of shooting by going 10 of 16 at the foul line while doubling up Arcadia 30-15 on the boards.Still, the victory didn't come until late.Arcadia (9-9) led 25-19 heading into the fourth quarter before H-L (6-10) used a 9-2 burst to get the win.Braylon Martinez led the Chieftains with 10 points and three steals. Will Nutter added six points and seven rebounds.Tripp Brubaker's 11 points topped the Redskins and Lamarion Tucker added 10. Bordner lights up BucksATTICA -- Seneca East senior Lucas Bordner went off Saturday night for 32 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers handled Buckeye Central 62-43 in N10 action.SE led 22-15 at the half, but then broke it open with a 24-12 third period.Luke Mason tallied 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, while Justin Reiter ended with 10 points and four boards.For BC, Hunter Caudill dropped in 15 points, followed by Caydin Jarvis with 14 points. Talley leads FHS chargeTOLEDO — Taevyn Talley tallied a double-double and two teammates teamed up for 31 points Saturday in Fostoria's 52-46 win against Toledo Waite.Talley scored 11 points and hauled in 17 rebounds to help the Redmen dominate the boards 40-24.Anthony Armstrong added 18 points and four steals for Fostoria (10-9) and Lance Miller scored 14 points.
