Calvert's Coleman named COY in D-VII, 4 Senecas earn all-Ohio honors

With Calvert preparing for a Division VII state semifinal Thursday in Akron, the ballclub was represented pretty well on the all-Ohio teams when they were released Monday.Matt Coleman was named the co-coach of the year in D-VII with Miller City's Dusty Pester, while Blake Coleman, Connor Moyer, AJ Shoemaker and Logan Ritzler were all on the teams.The first team consisted of Coleman (senior second baseman), Moyer (junior catcher), along with Mohawk sophomore Kaden Bish (third baseman) and New Riegel senior Shane Jones (utility).Coleman is batting .383 with two doubles, 20 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 20 stolen bases, while Moyer is hitting .372 with eight doubles, four homers, 35 RBIs and 23 runs scored. Bish batted .364 with seven doubles, three dingers, 22 RBIs and 27 runs scored, while Jones ended his career for the Blue Jackets hitting .507 with eight doubles, four triples, four home runs, 20 RBIs, 41 runs scored and 20 stolen bases, while also pitching 52.2 innings with a 1.86 ERA with 90 strikeouts.The second team included Mohawk senior shortstop Hunter Haynes and Calvert juniors Logan Ritzler (3B) and AJ Shoemaker (outfielder).Haynes batted .442 with four doubles, 20 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 26 stolen bases, while Ritzler is hitting .338 with three doubles, a triple, 20 RBIs and 25 runs scored and Shoemaker is currently hitting .359 with five doubles, one triple, 17 RBIs and 32 runs scored.In Division VI, Lakota senior Grant Bomer (catcher) and Hopewell-Loudon senior Cohen Sendelbach (2B) were named to the second team. Bomer batted .463 with four doubles, three tripled, 23 RBIs and 27 runs scored, while Sendelbach hit .398 with nine doubles, a dinger, 23 RBIs and 24 runs scored.In Division V, Fostoria senior Trent Smith (shortstop) was a second-teamer as he batted .507 with six doubles, four triples, nine RBIs and 14 runs scored.Bellevue sophomore Ike Brown (SS) was listed on the second team in Division IV. He hit .412 with three doubles, a triple, 13 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
