Fostoria celebrating 4th of July

FOSTORIA — The city of Fostoria is hosting an Independence Day Family Fun Night to celebrate America's 250th anniversary on Sunday, July 5. In partnership with Fostoria Eagles #430, the city is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Independence Day at Foundation Park starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature live music by Seventy80, a variety of food vendors, face painting by the Visionary Vixens, light-up toys and novelties for children, and free ice cream served by the city of Fostoria. The evening will conclude with a fireworks display presented by Pyroo Pyrotechnics, made possible through the generous support of this year's primary event sponsor, the Fostoria Eagles #430. Residents and visitors will be able to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy an evening of family-friendly entertainment on Sunday evening. Fostoria Chief of Police, Gabe Wedge, has provided the residents of Fostoria with a list of rules for this weekend's Independence Day celebration: Authorized days for use are July 3, 4 and 5. Items authorized without a permit include: wire or wood sparklers up to 100 grams each, novelty noisemakers, and toy pistols/guns using paper or plastic caps with 0.25 grains or less of explosive material. Items authorized with a license or permit include: consumer-grade fireworks or anything that shoots, explodes or leaves the ground, and fireworks bought locally as long as they comply with state law (ORC 3743.44-.48). Discharge location restrictions still apply even where consumer fireworks are allowed. Residents celebrating the holiday weekend should avoid public property and school grounds and should keep a safe distance from structures, hospitals and gas stations when using fireworks.
